Brand Conscious Consumers are Turning to Off-Brand Products

Many people have a specific brand they prefer when it comes to a product or service. This concept is particularly prevalent in the grocery and clothing industries. However, when the economic recession hit, people became affected by the negative aspects that followed, including; lay-offs, reductions in income and the lingering threat of foreclosure. Through these occurrences, people had to adapt and find ways to save money to cover the necessary monthly expenses they had.

One of the ways these brand conscious customers looked to save money is by turning to the less expensive off-brand products. Below are a couple of the reasons why off-brand products have become a popular choice for the previously brand conscious.

Popular Brands Reducing Quality

The difficulties associated with the economic recession have not only hit private citizens. Many large companies have had to shut down, or accommodate rises in production cost by cutting corners and finding ways to save money where ever possible. Unfortunately, to continue producing quality products, the cost is overwhelming for some companies. Due to this fact, to keep prices desirable for consumers, reducing the amount of quality becomes common practice.

Less Expensive

The most obvious reason more people are turning to off-brand products than ever before is because they are much less expensive. Many grocery stores offer their own brand of products that in many cases, are the same product, only with a different label and price. By going this route, previously brand conscious consumers are finding they can save a lot of money on their grocery bills and retail purchases.

Summer Fashion Trends: What’s Hot, What’s Not

This year’s fashion trends are a slight departure from what was hot a couple of years ago. Military inspiration is still somewhat big, but intricate patterns are being replaced with simpler ones and more refined monochrome patterns. Overall, the general idea is to look hip instead of old hat. You don’t want to look like Colonel Sanders unless you’re leading an army of chickens.

What’s hot this season is to pick up some extremely saturated neutral colors. When you look for something matching, match your shoes to your top as opposed to matching your top and pants or skirt together. Offers.com can help you find lots of great matches, but it can’t help you salvage a fashion disaster in the making. And when it comes to your shoes, an open look is great, but don’t go crazy with tiny straps and cut-outs. A simple curve and big straps are playful but still approachable.

Another instance when it’s best to go simple is when you don a mid-length skirt. While it’s fine to wear something a little demure, don’t go too wild on the mild. If you look like one of Michael Landon’s fictional daughters on Little House, you’ve gone too far. Keep your top light and casual to keep yourself rooted in the 21st century, unless you intend to start churning butter. Also, when you go for patterns, remember to keep it simple and wear it only on something modern. Don’t fear fabric in metallic colors. In small doses, silver and gold can bring a splash of flash to your summer threads.
